Mirror Lake And Tom, Dick & Harry Mountain Trails, Oregon

These snaps are of Mirror Lake And Tom, Dick & Harry Mountain Trails taken in the fall season. Quite surprisingly and unlike many trials, Mirror lake Trail is one of the few hikes accessible directly from Highway 26. One can park the vehicle just off 26 and hike starts right there. Trail is of almost six and a half miles round trip and the top to the mountain is about 1475 ft elevation. Trail is challenging but worth every step taken. We went on a cloudy morning and started the hike at 11 AM PST. On route to Mirror lake stopped at couple of places to capture the beautiful fall colors. Took us 1 1/2 hours to reach Mirror lake and spent time till 1:30 PM and then started hike to Tom, Dick & Harry Mountain. Trail is challenging especially the last leg which takes from scrub forest and over the steep rocks. It took us almost 1 1/2 hours to reach the top and at many points were walking among clouds. Top of the mountain presents a breath taking view of Mt Hood, Mirror lake, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, St. Helens and Mt Jefferson on a clear day. Because of the clouds we could see Mt Hood partially and except for Mt. Adams, which was very clear and St. Helens partially , we could not see rest two. Nevertheless it was a spectacular view straight out of the postcard kind of views. We were there till 3:30 PM and were alone to descend down. Going down is obviously easier but need to be careful not to sprain. We were lucky to reach Mirror lake back at around 4:30 PM and just in time to see the awesome reflection of Mt Hood in the Mirror lake and thus justifying its name. This is one hike which we would love to take again and most likely early summer.
